More than 20 union members of the federation, representatives from "Metropolitan Electric Transport", "Metropolitan Automobile Transport", "Metropolitan", Sofia Airport and "Burgasbus" participated in it.

The first day started with a conference on the topic "OSH when working with carcinogens", moderated by Ognyan Atanasov - vice president of CITUB. Lecturers included Violeta Dobreva - executive director of FUT, Darina Konova - Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, Rayna Georgieva, and Vladimir Vladimirov from CITUB.

The main focus of the program was the results of a study on risk factors for occupational cancer in Europe, presented by the state expert Darina Konova (MLSP). She outlined the main carcinogenic substances and pointed out ways for their identification and control.

According to the study, the ten most common risk factors to which workers are exposed are solar UV radiation, diesel emissions, benzene, respirable crystalline silica, hexavalent chromium, formaldehyde, lead, wood dust, artificial UV radiation, nickel. Among the sectors most frequently exposed to risk factors are mining activities, construction, furniture production, computer equipment and household goods repair, water transport, fishing and forestry, leather processing, according to the study conducted among over 24 thousand workers from 6 EU countries.

Rayna Georgieva, senior OSH expert at CITUB, presented current changes in the Roadmap of Carcinogens, which aims to systematically reduce workers' exposure and encourage the elimination of carcinogens. She reminded that for the protection of workers from exposure to cancer agents, the EU has a specialized Directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens, mutagens, or toxic substances for reproduction during work (Directive 2004/37/EC).

During the conference, the possibilities for funding safety measures through the "Working Conditions Fund", presented by the executive director Violeta Dobreva, as well as the challenges for safe working conditions in land transport, presented by the expert Vladimir Vladimirov, were discussed. The president of FTTU, Aleksander Shopov, also participated in the conference.
