Protest in front of the Council of Ministers under the slogan - "No budget - no salary increase"

Jun 23, 2025

On June 26, 2025 (Thursday) from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM in front of the Sofia Municipality building, a protest will take place under the slogan "No budget - no salary increase".

The protest is an expression of sharp dissatisfaction with the lack of an adopted budget for Sofia Municipality, which is unreasonably delayed, despite the state already providing targeted funds for urban transport assistance. Therefore, the promised increase of 300 BGN to the basic salaries of all workers in urban transport has not been realized. This is not a whim, but a vitally necessary measure to retain personnel and ensure the normal functioning of public transport in the capital.

The protest is organized by the FTTU at the CITUB and the FTT at KT "Podkrepa".

The FTTU continues to insist on:

Immediate adoption of the budget of Sofia Municipality and distribution of the funds provided by the state for an increase of 300 BGN in the basic salaries of all workers in urban transport. Improvement of working conditions, including:

- repair and maintenance of work premises and facilities; - provision of adequate sanitary and rest conditions; - guaranteeing the possibility of using accrued paid leave and adherence to inter-shift and weekly rest periods. - modernization of the rolling stock to enhance safety and protect the health of drivers and passengers.

Development of policies to attract young personnel through incentives, training, and secured career prospects. Building a long-term strategy for the sustainable development of urban transport in Sofia, with specific measures for personnel and technical stability.

If our demands are not met in the shortest time, we reserve the right to move to effective strike actions.

Sofia deserves quality public transport. And the workers - decent pay and respect.
