Position of FTTU in connection with Budget 2026
Nov 5, 2025

The Federation of Transport and Trade Unions (FTTU) carefully analyzes the draft State Budget 2026. We note a number of positive steps, including:
The increase in the minimum wage - an important decision that will help maintain the purchasing power of workers and provide more decent pay.
The support for social policies and education, which have a direct impact on the quality of life.
However, FTTU expresses strong disagreement with:
The lack of additional subsidies for urban transport, both for Sofia and for other major cities in the country - Varna, Burgas, Ruse, Pleven.
The absence of 15 million BGN, which were allocated following the blockade by transport workers in the summer of this year, is not foreseen in the budget for 2026.
This is an unacceptable underestimation of the importance of public transport - a sector that provides mobility to millions of citizens every day and is vital for the economy and social connectivity of Bulgaria.
FTTU will discuss the presented budget within its structures and will take the necessary actions to protect the interests of transport workers.
Public transport is not an expense - it is an investment in people, in sustainable development, and in the future of Bulgaria!
