We commemorate International Workers' Memorial Day!
Apr 28, 2025

Today, April 28, 2025, we observe the International Workers' Memorial Day for those killed and injured in workplace accidents, as well as the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
The Minister of Labor and Social Policy, the Deputy Minister of Health, the Director of the Labor Inspection, and representatives of employer organizations were present.
This year, the focus of the campaign is on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalization on health and safety in the workplace.
Although AI can be used to alleviate monotonous and heavy work, its implementation leads to increased labor intensity, enhanced surveillance, and monitoring, which generates serious negative consequences for the mental and physical well-being of workers. More and more workers feel the pressure of constant real-time micromanagement and automated performance evaluations.
The Federation of Transport and Trade Unions (FTTU) at CITUB laid flowers at the memorial plaque in front of the CITUB building in honor of all those who died and were injured in workplace accidents.
FTTU reminds that, according to data from the National Insurance Institute (NII), in 2024, 325 workplace accidents were registered in the "Transport" sector, 8 of which resulted in death.
FTTU insists on the urgent adoption of the Occupational Safety and Health National Programme 2025 - 2027 and the introduction of specific measures and deadlines for achieving zero workplace mortality by 2030.
The Chairman of FTTU, Engineer Alexander Shopov, and the Chairman of the Trade Union of Auto Transport in "Metropolitan Auto Transport," Naicho Naidenov, also attended the ceremony for presenting the annual "Prometheus" awards, which are awarded to enterprises with no registered workplace accidents and deaths in the past year. Companies from the "Education," "Healthcare," and "Industry" sectors were awarded.
