We are celebrating 140 years since the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia.

Sep 6, 2025

Today we celebrate the 140th anniversary of the Union of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia.

On September 6, 1885, the Bulgarian people stood alone against the unjust decision imposed by the Great Powers in June 1878 with the clauses of the Treaty of Berlin. With it, Bulgaria was divided, and Eastern Rumelia became an autonomous region under the sultan's rule. The Union was achieved after popular uprisings in Panagyurishte, Chirpan, Pazardzhik, and other settlements in Southern Bulgaria.

140 years later, the date September 6 is a symbol of our unity, determination, and struggle for justice. Let us follow it in our deeds in the present!

FTTU congratulates all Bulgarians on the holiday and wishes health, unity, and new successes in the name of Bulgaria!
