On 18.11.2025 in Sofia, a training event was held on the topic of "Organizing and Conducting Strike Actions" and "Collective Bargaining", organized by the Federation of Transport and Trade Unions (FTTU). The event was part of the federation's initiatives to enhance trade union competence among transport workers.
Over 50 union members participated in the training – representatives from "Sofia Electric Transport", "Sofia Auto Transport", "Metropolitan", and "Sof Connect". The participants had the opportunity to share experiences, discuss current labor challenges in the sector, and get acquainted with good practices for effective collective bargaining and protection of workers' rights.
The training was led by Todor Kapitanov – Vice President of CITUB, and Nikolay Stoyanov – a lawyer at FTTU, who presented the current legal framework, the main steps in organizing strike actions, and key moments in the collective bargaining process. The event was also attended by the Chairman of FTTU, Engineer Alexander Shopov, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of active trade union work and social dialogue.
The training proceeded in a constructive atmosphere, discussing real cases, exchanging ideas, and outlining future steps for improving working conditions and social partnership in the transport sector. Following the trainings held in Varna and Sofia, FTTU believes that the union activists are better prepared for effective organization of protest and strike actions.
