Today, the Chairman of FTTU Eng. Aleksandar Shopov, the Vice President of CITUB Todor Kapitanov, and the Chairman of the Trade Union Organization in Public Transport Varna, Pavlinka Nikolova, held a meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Finance, Hristo Rafailov, the Chairman of the Municipal Council, Hristo Dimitrov, and the Director of the Finance Directorate, Kiril Simeonov.

The topic of the meeting was the requested salary increase for public transport workers and the signing of a three-year cooperation agreement with the Municipality of Varna.

The proposal of the Municipality of Varna is for an increase of BGN 100, but only for this year, which was rejected by FTTU-CITUB. Such a proposal will provoke high social tension, commented Eng. Shopov.

Following the meeting and after additional discussions with the Mayor of Varna, as well as the persistence of the trade union representatives of workers and employees from FTTU-CITUB, it became clear that options can be sought for a salary increase in the active amount of BGN 200 from 01.07.2025.

As early as next week, meetings will be held with public transport workers in Varna to discuss subsequent protest actions. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18 at 11:30 AM.

FTTU expresses its strong desire for a constructive dialogue with Mr. Kotsev, with whom to find a stable solution to the problems of the workers in Public Transport Varna.

FTTU reminds that a letter is sent by Varna Municipality to the Ministry of Finance regarding the necessity of providing an additional BGN 6.5 million from the state to secure the increase of salaries of transport workers.
