Mar 6, 2026

Today, the chairman of the FTTU – Eng. Aleksandar Shopov, visited the garages of "Metropolitan Transport" JSC – AP "Zemlyane", AP "Malashevtsi", and AP "Druzhba". The visit to AP "Zemlyane" was conducted jointly with representatives of the Executive Agency "General Labor Inspectorate".

During the visits, Eng. Shopov held working meetings with the directors of the garages, during which he presented the opportunities for financing projects through the "Working Conditions" Fund. The possibilities for implementing measures and investments aimed at improving the working environment, safety, and health of employees were discussed.

After the discussions, tours of the work premises and service buildings were conducted to acquaint themselves with the conditions under which employees work. The meetings were also attended by the presidents of the trade union organizations – Vladimir Tsvetanov, Maria Georgieva, and Naycho Naydenov, who shared observations and proposals related to improving working conditions at the individual vehicle depots.

During the visits, various work areas, as well as sanitary and household facilities, were examined. Despite the limited financial capabilities of the enterprises, measures have already been observed in some places to improve working conditions. Nevertheless, several pressing problems remain regarding the need for repairs of toilet facilities, ceilings, rest rooms, and other sanitary and household spaces, which are essential for the normal working environment of employees.

The chairman of FTTU also held conversations with employees, who shared their concerns and problems related to their health conditions, workload at the workplace, overtime work, and the need for better sanitary and household conditions.

According to Eng. Aleksandar Shopov, concrete steps are already being taken in some places to improve working conditions, but employers still do not sufficiently utilize the funding opportunities provided by the state through the "Working Conditions" Fund.

"We observe situations where public resources are spent without using the support mechanisms that exist. Through the 'Working Conditions' Fund, part of these funds can be reclaimed and redirected back towards real improvements in the working environment," emphasized the chairman of the FTTU.

He further noted that such visits play an important role both in promoting the opportunities of the fund and in better understanding the specific problems faced by those working on the ground.

The visits to enterprises and work sites will continue in the future as part of FTTU's initiative for more active dialogue with employers. The goal is to promote the funding opportunities provided by the fund and to encourage the implementation of concrete measures to improve the working environment.
