The Federation of Transport and Trade Unions launches a national survey on working conditions in transport!

The Federation of Transport and Trade Unions (FTTU) launches a large-scale national survey on working conditions and related morbidity among employees in the "Transport" sector, with the support of the "Working Conditions" Fund.

The study aims to provide a real and objective assessment of the state of working conditions, health status, and professional risks faced by workers in the transport sector in Bulgaria.

The main highlights are:

  • Conducting visits and meetings with workers, union structures, and employers in enterprises throughout the country;

  • Collecting and analyzing data on morbidity, physical and psychosocial risks, workplace ergonomics, noise, working with video displays, violence, and harassment from passengers;

  • Researching the real daily working conditions – work environment, breaks, sanitary-living conditions, organization of working time;

  • Analyzing the shortage of personnel and its connection to working conditions and pay;

  • Preparing and presenting a comprehensive national report with specific proposals for measures, including at the municipal, state, and legislative level.

The focus of the analysis is the workers themselves – their problems, health, and needs. The goal is for policies and decisions in the sector to be based on real data, not formal statistics.

We will start at the beginning of February, with the first visits taking place in the city of Varna, and subsequently – in Sofia, Pleven, Burgas, Ruse, and all regions with active union structures and significant employment in transport.

The Federation of Transport and Trade Unions believes that improving working conditions is not an expense but an investment – an investment in the health, safety, and sustainable future of the people who drive the transport and economy of the country.
