Federation of Transport Trade Unions launches a national study on working conditions in transport!

Federation of Transport Trade Unions (FTTU) launches a large-scale national study on working conditions and related morbidity among employees in the "Transport" sector, with the support of the "Working Conditions" Fund.

The study aims to provide a real and objective evaluation of the state of working conditions, health status and professional risks faced by workers in the transport sector in Bulgaria.

Main highlights are:

• Conducting visits and meetings with workers, trade union structures and employers in enterprises across the country;

• Collection and analysis of data regarding morbidity, physical and psychosocial risks, ergonomics at the workplace, noise, working with video displays, violence and harassment by passengers;

• Investigation of the real daily working conditions – working environment, breaks, sanitary and living conditions, organization of working hours;

• Analysis of the shortage of personnel and its relationship to working conditions and remuneration;

• Preparation and presentation of a summarized national report with concrete proposals for measures, including on municipal, state and legislative levels.

At the heart of the analysis are the workers themselves – their problems, health and needs. The goal is for policies and decisions in the sector to be based on real data, rather than on formal statistics. 

We start at the beginning of February, with the first visits being in the city of Varna, and subsequently – in Sofia, Pleven, Burgas, Ruse and all regions with active trade union structures and significant employment in transport.

Federation of Transport Trade Unions believes that improving working conditions is not an expense, but an investment – an investment in the health, safety and sustainable future of the people who move the transport and economy of the country.
