Day 3 of the blockade of the public transport in Sofia

May 16, 2025

Day 3, in which the public transport blockades in Sofia continue.

After over 4 hours of negotiations with the mayor of Sofia and his team yesterday, no agreement was reached on the proposals he made:

- 180 BGN in the basic salary for all workers from the 4 companies.

or

- 100 BGN + 100% increase in the mileage bonus, but only for the electric and auto transport.

After the meeting at Sofia Municipality, the chairman of FTTU, Eng. Alexander Shopov, visited all garages and depots to speak personally with those working in the system.

The workers are adamant that they do not agree with the mayor's proposals, which led to the initiation of gathering a petition for effective indefinite strike actions. The strike demands include: an increase in the basic salaries: 400 (four hundred BGN), effective from 01.03.2025; 500 (five hundred BGN), effective from 01.03.2026; 600 (six hundred BGN), effective from 01.03.2027, increased overheads; improvement of working conditions.

In case of an effective strike, the work of the 'Metropolitan' will also be suspended.

The employees demand specific commitments from the municipality and the fulfillment of their demands.
