On January 1 (January 14, old style), 124 years have passed since the first tram in Sofia!

In January 1901, Sofia became one of the first capitals in the region to launch trams, forever changing the way the city moves and grows. Back then, the first electric tramcars hit the streets, turning the city into a more modern and convenient place for its residents.

Trams became a symbol of urban transport, connecting the capital's neighborhoods and facilitating the daily lives of thousands of Sofia citizens.

They are also a symbol of all the workers who have given their hearts and souls over the years

Today, 124 years later, trams remain part of the spirit of Sofia, proving that tradition and innovation can go hand in hand.
